Boring
So far, this book has been quite boring and unrealistic. There hasn't been any action in the first 4 chapters, and in my opinion there should be some by now. I think it is unrealistic because i highly doubt someone would be scared of a house. Usually stories like that are for cheezy scary movies about ghosts and haunted houses. So, I really hope this book starts to get better real soon.

It does get better a little later on when Jem, Scout, and Dill go to the Radley house and they get shot at. Just give it some time.
I don't think that this book has been unrealistic at all. In my opinion, everything has been very believable. Also, why wouldn't someone be scared of a house? Especially some little kids. I'm sure that seeing a creepy house with creepy people in it would scare you. I also thought the first four chapters were pretty good. Just the first one was a little boring.
Seriously .. don't judge this book too soon.
And its more realistic than probably the weird sci-fi or crazy action books than you read every other day.
It is a story that is very accurate about how people thought and were treated.
Don't give up just because it isn't what you thought it would be just yet.
Check out fifth hour's blog--there is some interesting thoughts on the whole exposition and creation of the atmosphere of Maycomb, AL.
Well, I do not know how far along you are in the book, but I have to agree with MAN THONG. It starts getting a lot better in chapter 6. I was so intrigued that I couldn't stop at the end of Ch. 6 and went on to read Ch. 7 and half of Ch. 8.
:]
Do you really think it is unrealistic for a book about the deep south in the past is boring to begin with? I cannot say that im actually a fan but I am not surprised about the slow start after reading Their Eyes Were Watching God. You also have to consider that these kids are in second to fifth grade. I don't know about you but i wasn't very logical back when i was their age no matter what the subject. Heck I still wouldn't go up and knock on a creepy house.
At first I thought it was pretty boring....but it definitely got better, especially when they start finding things in the tree. You learn what each character is like, by the way they react to the findings.
Boring? ok, maybe to start out, but you have hardly given the book a chance.... Just wait until the kids decide to go to the Radley house... quite exciting! Give it some time... and while you're at it, try a positive attitude, that always helps!! :)
I do not think it is boring. At first it was kind of hard getting into it, but now it is hard to put it down.
Also, it is very easy for little kids to be scared of a house. They have heard so many stories of what has happened to the house and the people inside of it that they are starting to believe them. Their imaginations have taken off and I am curious to see where it takes them....
